It is a perennial flowering plant, Spider Plant's are native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Australia and Asia, it grows in India and is used as a medicinal plant. It is a non-toxic to humens and animals. 
  The Spider palnt also cleans the air and remove toxins from the  environment. It is also Known as Spider Ivy, Airplane plant, Ribbon plant ( a name it shares with Dracaena Sanderiana).
